from around the World
John Bateman is an architect, a founding partner of Jordan + Bateman Architects, a practice established in 1991. Most of John's architectural work was overseas in India, The Middle East, Far East, Africa and eastern Europe.
John has been painting since he was a child. He retired from his architectural practice in 2013 in order to paint full time.
Most of his early inspiration came from his travels and so many of his paintings are of exotic or foreign scenes.
John has a studio in France, in the Charente Maritime where he regularly exhibits his paintings of local scenes, life studies and portraits. He is now experimenting in oils and acrylics after a lifetime of watercolours.
